SHTM holds 3rd Program Advisory Board Meeting

Leaders of Pampanga hospitality and tourism industry and accomplished graduates of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM) converged for its 3rd Program Advisory Board Meeting held last August 8 at the university’s Café Juan.

The members of the board met with the accreditors from the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA) during their formal accreditation visit to solicit valuable feedback from industry partners and alumni. The board was formalized to ensure that the curricula of the program offerings are up to date and based on the needs of the industry. The meeting is also timely as the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) CMO for the new curriculum has been released. Potential elective courses to be offered for next semester were also solicited during the meeting.

The establishment of the Program Advisory Board is consistent with the objective of the university to continuously aim for academic quality and organizational excellence. The college also sees this as an opportunity to bridge the gap between theories and actual practice by getting first-hand feedback from practitioners and to produce graduates that can truly be agents of countryside development.

Other major points discussed in the meeting were the implemented changes based on the previous meeting of the board, evaluation of the skill set possessed by the graduates of the school, campus experiences of the alumni and the presentation of the latest Audio-Visual Presentation reflecting the commitment of the school to be a center of excellence in the hospitality and tourism management education.
