HAU, HRP Co-host 39th NDPR Week Celebration

With the aim of advancing awareness and respect for the rights of differently abled individuals, otherwise known as persons with disabilities (PWDs), Holy Angel University and the Holy Rosary Parish celebrated the 39th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week on July 23, 2017 with the theme, “Karapatan at Pribilehiyo ng Maykapansanan: Isakatuparan at Ipaglaban.”

The event was opened with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at the Holy Rosary Parish participated by around 300 individuals with different forms of impairment from six (6) institutions catering to students with special needs, namely: Angeles Elementary School Special Education Center, Excelsior School, Holy Trinity Special Education Foundation, Inocencio Magtoto Memorial Foundation, Inc., Salapungan Elementary School, and St. James the Worker Center, Inc.

Together with their parents, teachers, and volunteers from the Holy Rosary Parish, the Infant Jesus Choir of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Holy Angel University Student Organizations like Human Kinetics, Special Education Society, the Campus Youth Ministry and their moderator, the Information For Christian Formation, Social Integration (ICFSI) Director and the Office of the Community Extensions Services (OCES) Staff along with the Holy Rosary Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Michael F. Guinto, the participants paraded from the Parish grounds to the Holy Angel University Covered Court where a program of activities followed. With the assistance of the volunteers, the students were engaged in a warm-up mass dance and specialized games and activities that highlighted their abilities and giftedness.
