IACBE revisits HAU

The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) had a site visit on July 26 to 28 with HAU's School of Business and Accountancy. The team is composed of Prof. Dennis Gash (IACBE President), Dr. Ralph Mason (Team Chair), and Dr. Nipoli Kamdar (Member). This is in line with the re-accreditation effort of the University from the said US-based accrediting body.

During Day 1 of the visit, the team had a courtesy call with HAU President, Dr. Luis Maria Calingo, and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Alma Espartinez. The team also met with the Dean of SBA, Dr. Joan C. Reyes. The remaining work time of the accreditors focused on the review of the institution’s quality assurance initiatives and outcomes assessment plan and results.

Day 2 of the visit included a 30 minute dialogue with one of SBA’s key stakeholders – the students. Students from all courses and degrees of the School of Business and Accountancy engaged with the accreditors by answering validating questions. After, the accreditors were given a tour of SBA’s facilities followed by a one hour conference with the SBA faculty members. The SBA’s faculty members both for college and graduate schools had insightful discussions with the accreditation team. A lunch with the external stakeholders held at Casa Nena was another highlight as the accreditors were given the chance to meet with the School of Business and Accountancy external stakeholders (i.e. alumni, industry partners, donors and friends).

The last day of the IACBE team site visit was spent to complete the self-study evaluation, meeting with the University’s administrative and support personnel and exit interviews. The formal documentation of the IACBE team site visit together with the official results will be received in August. The University's bid for international accreditation began in school year 2005-06 when IACBE first conferred on the University on April 4, 2008, in Newport Beach, California, the Specialized Accreditation of the business and business-related programs of then College of Business and Accountancy (CBA).
