HAU Welcomes New VP for ITSS

Holy Angel University (HAU) welcomed its new Vice President for Information Technology Systems and Services (Chief Information Officer), Mr. John Peter Abraham Ruero, who officially assumed the position on July 5. Mr. Ruero is a PhD-Candidate in the Educational Leadership and Management Executive Program, and completed 60 academic units of PhD Mathematics. He is a licensed Electronics and Communications Engineer, who holds a Master of Science degree in Information Management.

With 27 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) both in the industry and in the academe, Mr. Ruero has provided IT leadership, consultancy, governance and security services for acknowledged industry leaders like IBM, Oracle, Misys, Accenture, Macquarie Offshore Services, IAMTEAM, United Health Group (UHG) Optum Global Services, and other notable companies in the BPO industry. He also held other positions, namely, Associate Director, Sr. IT Manager, Consultant, Trainer, Project Manager, and Systems Engineer.

Mr. Ruero is affiliated with Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Philippines as its President. He is passionately involved in information technology education as immediate past president of PSITE (Philippine Society of IT Educators), establishing ICT industry-academic linkages, agreements and programs to benefit the ITE academic community, business partners and government. His other connections include ISACA PH, and Mathematical Society of the Philippines.

As an active educator and an advocate of continuous learning, Mr. Ruero holds professional and technical certifications such as CGEIT, ITIL V3 Foundation, IBM Cognos Reports, DDI, Kepner Tregoe, and others. He taught in De la Salle University, Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines Information Technology Development Center, University of Asia and the Pacific, and UIC. He trains on information security management system, business continuity planning, and service management. He also contributed to the Cyber Security Review Reader for National Defense in the Philippines.

Outgoing VP ITSS, Engr. Renato Santiago retired effective July 4, 2016, after a total of close to 27 years of service.

With Mr. Ruero on board, HAU reassures the community that its technology innovations will be continued in its pursuit to be one of the most influential and best managed Catholic universities in the Asia Pacific Region.
