HAU hosts agriculturists congress

Holy Angel University is hosting the Third National Congress of the Philippine Association of Agriculturists, Inc. (PAA) on Nov. 4-5. Secretary of Agriculture Proceso Alcala will be the congress' guest of honor.

In his message to the congress, HAU President Dr. Luis Maria R. Calingo lauded the association for its role as leading advocate for rural development and its campaign to upgrade the conditions of the agriculture sector. He drew comparison between the association and the University whose mission is to be a catalyst for countryside development by making quality education accessible outside Metro-Manila.

The theme of this year's congress is "Defining Strategic Actions to Address Emerging Issues in Philippine Agriculture."

Dr. Evelyn Aro-Esquejo, President of the Philippine Association of Agriculturists, said the congress will serve as "a venue for productive exchange of new ideas and deliverable strategies to raise the competence of current and future licensed agriculturists to better serve our farmers and fisherfolk."

The congress, organized by the University of the Philippines (UP)-Los Banos in partnership with Holy Angel University and the Pampanga State University of Agriculture (PSAU), will also launch the first PAA Regional Chapter in Central Luzon.

The association is the only accredited professional organization in agriculture recognized by the Philippine Regulatory Commission.
