Simbang Gabi

On behalf of the academic community of Holy Angel University, I would like to greet each one of you on the occasion of the first evening of Simbang Bengi 2009.

This Simbang Bengi is one of the many reflections of Holy Angel’s Christian Catholic character − with Jesus, the Incarnate Word, at the center of University life. Together, we wait in joyful anticipation to celebrate the birth of our Lord who, about 2,000 years ago, was born of Mary in a humble manger in Bethlehem, commencing a life that had served as the fullest expression of God’s love for man.

How fitting it is to have met him today in the Holy Eucharist amidst the ambiance, glory and splendor of this newly-built Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angel. As one community, we adore him, praise him, honor him, thank him, and cast all our cares on him, for he is who he is − the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the last of everything that is in Holy Angel.

My sincerest gratitude and appreciation go to our beloved Archbishop, the Most Rev. Paciano B. Aniceto, DD, for celebrating this first Simbang Bengi. Among, dakal pung salamat. And to you, my colleagues and co-workers in the University, my dear students, friends and visitors, please accept my advanced greeting of a “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

Thank you very much. Mayap a bengi pu kekatamu ngan.
