Cardinal Newman Society lauds HAU

The Cardinal Newman Society, a 20,000-member international organization dedicated to defending and promoting Catholic Education, has cited Holy Angel University for "setting an example for other universities in the largely Catholic country and around the world" after HAU theology professors took the Oath of Fidelity and received the mandatum from the Archbishop of San Fernando, Florentino Lavarias. HAU joins the Pontifical University of Santo Tomas (UST) in declaring conformity to the Catholic Church's constitution Ex corde Ecclesiae which governs all Catholic universities in the world. HAU President Dr. Luis Maria R. Calingo, in his speech at the ceremony, expressed hope that other Catholic schools also follow suit. The US-based Cardinal Newman Society's online publication The Catholic Education Daily keeps Catholic leaders and families informed about research, developments and best practices in Catholic education throughout the world.
