HAU Pays Tribute to Mary, the Queen of Angels

The Feast of the Assumption and the Birthday of the Blessed Mother were commemorated through Eucharistic Celebrations on August 15, 2014 and on September 8, 2014, respectively. The August 15 Mass was presided by the University Chaplain Rev. Fr. Elmer B. Salonga while the September 8 Mass was led by a guest celebrant in the person of Rev. Fr. Melvin Castro who also gave a talk about the role of Mary in the Catholic faith, which was integrated in the homily. The said Mass was likewise offered in celebration of the CICT Days. The guest priest is the Executive Secretary of the Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Family and Life (CBCP-ECFL) and founder of the Confraternity of Mary, Mediatrix of All Graces.

As part of the celebration, the members of the Marian Devotees in Action (MDA), a religious organization for students, which is under the supervision of the Campus Ministry Office (CMO), set-up a Rosary Vigil on September 3, 2014 at the HAU-Student Center where the Holy Rosary was prayed every hour of the day by Christian Living Education classes, led by MDA members. Walk-in devotees of the Blessed Mother wrote and posted their letters to her on a designated wall labeled “Letters to Mary”. Said letters were offered during the September 8 Mass at the Chapel of the Holy Guardian Angel.

In the afternoon of September 8, 2014, selected students, faculty, and non-teaching personnel served as the university’s delegates to the Coronation of Virgen de los Remedios at Villa del Sol, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
