With six years in its arsenal, HOLY ANGEL UNIVERSITY PARAGALA: The Central Luzon Media Awards stands as the grandest student-based awards show. The prestigious event was held at the San Francisco de Javier Theater March 16, 2019. In its years of service, Paragala has always aimed to give praise and recognize the best media personalities and practitioners through its many categories that range from news to entertainment. Granting this year’s sense in gold and branded in TIMELESS, Paragala celebrates its awardees under a classical theme that aims to remember those whose service remains infinite and unending for the Filipino people.
Formed by the student body organization of the BA Communications program, the Communicators’ League, the committee prides itself in the participation of 29 schools in Central Luzon as its voting student body. From its humble beginnings in 2014, Paragala has since grown and now celebrates its 6th year.
Paragala has long since awarded those in the Entertainment, News and Public Affairs, Music and Advocacy Categories. For this year, Paragala has acknowledged the dynamic shifting from traditional and digital media as they include in this year’s categories the Digital Media and Advertising Campaign Category. The aforementioned categories aim to give recognition to online influencers and established digital platforms whose goals are to produce informative content with values close to the hearts of every Filipino.
Winners for the Entertainment Category are as follows: Coco Martin (Best Television Actor), Yassi Pressman (Best Television Actress), FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano (Best Teleserye), ASAP Natin To (Best Musical Variety Show), It’s Showtime (Best Noontime Show), Daryl Ong (Best Male Recording Artist), Moira Dela Torre (Best Female Recording Artist).
Boasting immeasurable duty to the nation, the winners for the News and Public Affairs Category are: Unang Hirit (Best Morning Show), Ivan Mayrina (Best Male Morning Show Host), Amy Peres (Best Female Morning Show Host), Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (Best Magazine Show), Reel Time: Salat (Best Documentary), 24 Hours (Best News Program), Raffy Tima (Best Male Field Reporter), Dorris Bigornia (Best Female Field Reporter), Ted Failon (Best Male News Anchor) and Vicky Morales (Best Female News Anchor).
Consisting of equally esteemed persons, chairpersons and administrators from both the Holy Angel University and participating schools, presenters climbed onstage to personally hand over the awards for attending media personalities and representatives.
With yearlong preparations from the committee and university personnel, Paragala has successfully given praise to the most outstanding practitioners in an event that continuously seeks to acknowledge only the best of the best from the world of media.
