HAU Comm spearheads F2F Paragala two years after the pandemic

After two years of online conduct, Paragala: The Central Luzon Media Awards, the largest student-based award giving body in the Philippines, goes face to face on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Holy Angel University theater, led by Communication majors and program chairperson Dr. Leslie Manalo-Medina.
The event was graced by the HAU OIC-President, Leopoldo Jaime N. Valdes; the Assistant to the President and Assistant Academic Vice President, Edna Marizza C. Santos; the Vice President for Student Services and Affairs and Director of Center for Kapampangan Studies, Robert P. Tantingco; the Vice President for Finance, Ms. Jocelyn Aniceto; HR Senior Consultant, Ms. Rosario Ventura; University Registrar, Dr. Jesus Panlilio, OIC of ITS, Mr. Catalino Diaz; Associate Registrar, Dr. Maria Doris Bacamante; the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Janette R. Rodriguez; Director of Student Affairs, Iris Ann G. Castro; and the University and College Student Councils Officers.
According to a post by Manalo-Medina, the physical event was long overdue but it was worth the wait as it spelled out success for all stakeholders of the award's night.
In her post, Manalo-Medina captioned:
"It was a grueling yet surreal and fulfilling journey to hold the 9th HAU Paragala in-person, after two years of virtual conduct."
Finally, she thanked her production team who, with the support of the HAU management, made the long-awaited night possible, then further added, “Amidst the limitations, we were able to pull it off. The off-cam scenes are [the] most memorable, nakakaiyak! Our commitment is to continuously evolve just how [the] media and communication industries do.”
For the News and Public Affairs Category, TV 5's television presenter and former volleyball player Gretchen Ho and government-based research institution Philippine Rice Research Institute were present at the event, winning the Paragala Pang Kabataan: News and Current Affairs and Outstanding Institution for Science Journalism, respectively.
Meanwhile, Cleo Loque of Kwentuhang Pilipina received her trophy in person, as her podcast won the Best Youth-Oriented Podcast under the Entertainment Category.
Other notable wins in the award's night were the Paragala Pang Kapakanan (Traditional Spiritual Program) and Paragala Pang Kapakanan (Digital Self-Help) under the Major Awards Category, awarded to 700 Club Asia and Adulting with Joyce Pring, respectively.
Both winners were in attendance at the event, with the 700 Club Asia team and Joyce Pring receiving their respective awards themselves.
