Three staffers from The Reflection of SEd clinched three medals out of six categories from the recently concluded awarding night of “Tayid-Tayid 2022: Militant Reportage and the Role of Campus Press in the 2022 PH Election,” spearheaded by The Pioneer of AUF, yesterday.

Shaina Gil Sunga of E-4SS, Mary Joyce Dizon of E-3EN, and Leah Amor Manalo of ED-101/102, won 3rd place in Feature Writing, 3rd Place in Investigative Journalism, and 5th Place in Sports Writing, respectively.

SEd also commends the outstanding efforts of Chesa Filosofo of E-4EN, Michaela Noreen Elizalde of E-3EN, and Trisha Denise Dimabuyu of E-2EN, for representing HAU for Development Communication, News Writing, and Editorial Writing, respectively.

Some of the 35 participating student publications across the country were The Oikonomos Nexus (Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Sta. Mesa, Manila), The NORSUnian (Negros Oriental State University), and The Oracle (Tarlac State University).

Recognizing Tayid-Tayid 2022 as a prestigious journalistic competition, Shaina Gil Sunga, the incumbent Editor-in-Chief of The Reflection 2021-2022, perceived the competition as a good way to challenge her staffers to write bolder stories.

"To win three awards is such a momentous feat for a small publication like Reple... Not to mention, we joined two categories in which we do not have any background: (1) Investigative Writing, and (2) Developmental Writing... It was a rollercoaster ride for all of us, but it was thrilling and exciting for the most part," said Sunga.

Consequently, this is the first conference where The Reflection competed along with more than 30 student publications.
