Guidelines for the Depository Counter
- FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis will always be observed/followed both for faculty and students as well as other users.
- Users are advice to fall in line when claiming or depositing items.
- Strictly no valuables can be claimed without the corresponding number of a pigeon hole.
- When claiming several bags (of different persons) deposited just in one pigeon hole, all the owners of the said items should show-up with the corresponding number.
- Strictly, depository service can only be availed if the customer uses/enters the library and not for any other purposes.

General Policies
All bonafide students and regular faculty members of HAU may avail of the library privileges upon presentation of a valid ID.
The ID card issued by the University is required in borrowing and returning of library materials.
A Special library card maybe granted to alumni of the university but availment of the library collection is for Room Use Only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, that is from 8:00 AM to 02:00 PM only and on Wednesdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There are no accomodations on SATURDAYS. A clearance from OSSA, an access fee of P 150.00 to be paid at the Finance Office, an updated alumni card and an interview with the Chief Librarian are requirements for getting the special library card.
Other visiting users can be accommodated upon presentation of an updated referral letter coming from the originating schools’ head librarian and a valid ID for students or from the office heads for professionals.
During periodic examination days, all outside researchers are not allowed to use the library. An access fee of P 50.00 is required each user/visit for print materials and P 100.00 for electronic materials. All library materials are for room use only. The Chief Librarian reserves the right to cancel request when it’s deemed necessary.
Privileges
A maximum of three(3) circulation books maybe borrowed by undergraduate students for three(3) days, five(5) for 4th year and graduating Engineering students. Circulation books maybe borrowed by Faculty and Graduate School students for a period of two(2) weeks. Two(2) reserve books maybe borrowed for overnight.
No loans maybe allowed when any of the books on loan is not returned on due dates. Loan period for books for home use closes one(1) week before the start of the final examination.
A book loan or borrowed for three(3) days or one(1) week is non-renewable if it is the only copy available for others to use the same. It maybe borrowed again three(3) days after it has been returned.
Alumni, former faculty and staff of HAU, private researchers and students from other schools have Library Room-Use privileges.
Currently employed non-teaching staff of HAU can avail of the easy reading materials housed in the Browsing Corner for home-use up to one(1) week.
Reservation
- A “hold” can be placed on any book out on loan by filling out a reservation slip.
- Books for home use may be reserved for 3 days. Failure to get the book after the reservation period automatically cancels the reservation.
- Reservation for reserve books to be borrowed overnight may be made starting from the opening time of the library.
- Non-print collections and viewing room should be reserved at least three(3) working days in advance

Lost Book
Should be replaced with the same title or must be
paid according to the value determined by the
Librarian with additional processing cost. If a lost
book is found, a fine of P15.00/day is computed from
the due date until the date of return, but not to
exceed the current cost of the book.
Damaged Materials
If a book is damaged beyond normal usage, it must be replaced with the same title with additional costs.
Academic Atmosphere
SILENCE shall be observed at all times in all parts of the library, reading rooms, lobby and stairways. Readers are reminded that the library is primarily for serious study and research. Smoking, eating, drinking, littering, loitering and the like are not permitted. Loud conversations are also prohibited.
Library Property
- The theft, defacement, mutilation or destruction of library property as contained in the Holy Angel University Student Handbook is subject to disciplinary action.
- Users caught bringing out library materials without permission shall be subject to disciplinary action.
Security Control
- Users entering the units of the library shall be required to deposit all personal belongings before entering the library except their wallets and other valuables.
- Depository claim number should not be brought out of the library premises.
- Unclaimed items at the Depository Counter shall be turned over to the Office of the Chief Librarian.
- Users leaving the library should present their things for inspection to authorized personnel assigned at the counter desk.
- Report loss of bag depository claim number to the library staff immediately. Users’ deposited items may be claimed after proper description.
Guidelines to be observed in the Faculty Corner:
- Computers should be turned off after use
- SILENCE should always be observed in deference to other faculty who are using the room.
- No food and drinks allowed.
- SLEEPING is not allowed.
- The last faculty to use the room should inform the Librarian upon going out so that the aircon units and lights can be turned off.
Discipline in the General Reading Area
- Take off hats as you enter the library.
- No sleeping is allowed.
- Lost and found depository claim numbers should be returned to the Office.
- Administering examination in the library is not allowed.
- Smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed.
- No group discussion is allowed.
- The library is for quiet study. It should not be made as a meeting place by any group.
- The library should not be used as a rendezvous for special friends.
- Loitering inside the reading area is strictly prohibited because it will distract students studying their lessons quietly.
- Each carrel is designed for a single user only. At no instance should there be two or more users in one carrel.
- No library user is allowed to move the chairs from one table to another.
- FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED basis will be strictly observed in the use of study tables/carrels in the reading room area. Therefore, if all seats have been taken, others will have to wait for their turn outside to avoid distracting readers.
- Cell phones should be set on a “Silent” mode.
* Non-compliance of any of the above rules shall be a valid ground for the offender to be sent out of the library and/or confiscation of IDs.
Guidelines on the Use of the Discussion Rooms
- Discussion room utilization per group is for a maximum of two(2)
hours only.
- DISCUSSION ROOMS are for legitimate academic related discussions only.
- Users are expected to handle with due care all the facilities installed in the rooms such as air-con units, chairs, tables, etc. and to maintain orderliness and cleanliness within the area.
- Closed-circuit cameras have been installed to properly monitor what is going on inside at all times.
- Users are required to make reservations at the Library’s Office at least a day before the accommodation.
- IDs of the group should be left at the office while inside the discussion rooms.
- All room users are expected to act and behave prim and proper inside the discussion rooms.
- The librarian reserves the right to deny any accommodation if users do not act in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University Library.
- The Librarian reserves the right to inspect the rooms after it is utilized and before the IDs of the members of a particular group are released.
- Food and drinks not allowed.
- Anybody using the discussion room is liable for violation of any of the aforecited guidelines/rules.
- Chairs should not be tilted and rocked to avoid damage or wreckage.
Notes:
- The loan desk services cease fifteen(15) minutes before the library closes to clear the desks for the next library day service
- As standard operating procedure, every time an employee of the school (including faculty) who cannot visit the library personally should send an ID authorizing another person to borrow for him/her, otherwise the person sent will not be accommodated by the attending Librarian.
- Seats may not be reserved. Any unattended bags or other materials left on the table or carrel will be removed by the staff or student assistant.
- A referral letter should be obtained from the Office before doing research outside HAU library.
- ID's should be worn at all times while inside the library premises
Reminders:
- All fire exit doors are equipped with alarm system. Any attempt to pass thru any of these doors will trigger the alarm.
- The library is provided with closed-circuit cameras to properly monitor what is going on inside at all times.
