Classical piano concert at HAU

Holy Angel University will sponsor a solo piano concert featuring the celebrated young pianist Oliver Salonga. The concert will be held on Tuesday, August 5 at three o’clock in the afternoon at the University Theatre.

The show is part of the University’s Diamond Jubilee celebration.

A music scholar of the Philippine High School for the Arts, Oliver Salonga finished his Bachelor of Music major in piano performance summa cum laude at Lynn University Conservatory of Music in Florida, USA where he was under the tutelage of Prof. Roberta Rust.

The two-time winner of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) debuted with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under Ruggero Barbieri as soloist in the Grieg A Minor Concerto and received unanimous good reviews from the country’s leading critics.

He is now pursuing his masteral course at the Cleveland Institute of Music as a full scholar under Prof. Antonio Pompa-Baldi, prizewinner of the 2001 Van Cliburn Competition.

“This is part of our ongoing program to bring quality shows from Manila to serve as benchmark for local talents,” Robby Tantingco, the University’s AVP for Student Services and Affairs, said.

Tickets are priced at P75 for students and P100 for professionals, with special discounts for HAU students and employees.
