Holy Angel University - Office of International Affairs (OIA) was established in early part of 2007 which mission is to extend its thrust in instruction, research and community extension through global activities and alliances.
OIA, is under the Office of the President, aims at developing new international initiatives, internationalizing the curricula, expanding distance learning, encouraging study abroad, and fostering international exchange and collaboration.
The international partnership was started in the Graduate School, thru the support of Dr. Arlyn S. Villanueva, the Dean of Graduate School and effort of Dr. Arturo Mariano I. Figueroa, Program Coordinator of Graduate School of Engineering, which gave way to the formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Naresuan University, Phitsanulok, Thailand and Holy Angel University on the following forms of cooperation; to wit: curriculum development, training, teaching and research on October 29, 2004 held at HAU in the presence of Presidents and Members of Administration of two Universities.
To oversee the Office of International Affairs, the Director of Iskwela ng Imang Nena was appointed concurrently as the Director of International Affairs Office in the person of Mr. Elmer A. Palacio, who became an instrument in forging a Sister School Relationship with Namseoul University, Republic of Korea. An Agreement of Cooperation was formally undertaken on March 21, 2006 in the presence of Dr. Chung-Ja Kong, President of Namseoul University and Mrs. Bernadette M. Nepomuceno, President of Holy Angel University at Namseoul University. The said agreement has given birth to English Language Program and establishment of Dual Degree Program.
When Dr. Arlyn S. Villanueva, the 8th President of Holy Angel University, took over the helm of administration on August, 2006, she strengthened international linkages as part of her administrative thrust. She envisions stronger international linkages that will be initiated in the Graduate School. To help her achieve said vision, Dr. Joan C. Reyes was appointed as the Head of International Affairs Office on June 2, 2008, concurrently the Program Coordinator of Graduate School of Business, who is empowered to set off innovations and forge meaningful international partnerships. She is also designated to be a window for all international activities such as exploring the possibility of cooperation with prestigious universities, arranging HAU’s delegation good-will visits abroad, receiving international guests, sending and receiving exchange students to and from sister universities, advising and taking care of international students in all respects, negotiating the details of signing academic cooperation agreements, and among others.
The Office of International Affairs is now geared towards sponsoring international conferences, establishing sister ties with overseas universities, initiating faculty/student exchange programs, inviting eminent overseas scholars to teach in the Graduate School, acting as lecturers in in-house seminars and training and subsidizing faculty members for advanced study abroad. Collaborative efforts are shared together with all University departments to facilitate exchange and to offer orientation to international visitors.
