IT Students Hailed as Champions in CNAP Networking Skills Competition
Baguio City, the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) held a Networking Skills Competition (Cluster A- Elimination Round) last February 13, 2009. The team composed of Rolando Antonio Jr., Arvin Bondoc, Jasme Silvestre and Ana Reymabel Cacay, together with their coach, Ms. Rasel Dela Cruz, bagged the 1st place (champion) and received a cash price of Php 5,000 in the Basic Networking Category.
The competition had two categories; Basic and Advanced Networking. The latter was also participated in by the team coached by Mr. Wilson D. Concepcion and Mrs. Arcely P. Napalit. The team was composed of Joseph Ramos, Mervin Sula, Charles Pineda and ShuFang Wang, who grabbed a wildcard position for the National Championship. The first place in the category was awarded to Systems Plus College Foundation.
Rolando Antonio Jr. and Mervin Sula were both awarded for garnering the highest scores in the written examination for their respective categories, outdoing participants from other universities.
The competition aims to develop the skills of the CNAP students in designing, building and maintaining computer networks. To promote cooperation between Cisco Networking Academy Schools in the Philippines through skills competition, And to promote the use of Packet tracer as other tools for simulation of network troubleshooting.
Both teams (Basic and Advanced Category) will participate on the upcoming “CNAP - National Championship Skills Competition 2009" on March 26, 2009 at Holy Angel University.
