On March 15, 2007, the department had an initial visit for the Center of Development/Excellence application under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The Center of Development Status is granted to institutions that meet high standards of Instruction Quality, Research and Development, Extension and Linkages and Institutional Qualifications. Re-application was made the following year. On May 7, 2009 , CHED identified Holy Angel University – Hotel and Restaurant Management as Center of Development .
