To realize the mission of the department the following goals and objectives are targeted:
- Equip and develop future physical education and music teachers with knowledge in content, methodologies, techniques and strategies to enable them to teach in the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.
- Enhance the research capabilities of the students in basic educational research and community projects.
- Conduct relevant researches and community extension services in the areas of physical education, sports, dance, music, and recreation, in cooperation with the offices of the research and extension of the University.
- Provide leadership and improve confidence beyond the school in the field of teacher training, sports coaching and officiating, dance, music, and recreation.
- Establish linkages to various international and national government and non-government agencies, as well as sports and other professional organizations and performing arts to avail for itself the expertise and assistance to these agencies, which will serve as venues for students’ exposure for the mastery and proficiency of their skills.
- Promote indigenous culture through immersion, linkages, and cultural enhancement programs.
